What is Reiki?

Reiki is a beautiful, gentle yet powerful form of energy healing that works with the natural energy flow within the body to restore balance, calm the mind, and support your emotional wellbeing.

Reiki was first developed in Japan in the early 1920s by Mikao Usui. The word “Reiki” comes from those Japanese origins:

  • “Rei” meaning universal
  • “Ki” meaning life energy

Together, Reiki refers to the universal life force energy that flows through all living things.

Reiki as a practice was developed in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui, who discovered and refined this method of energy healing in Japan. His teachings focused on the idea that when our energy is balanced and flowing freely, our bodies and minds are naturally able to restore themselves.

Over time, Reiki has spread across the world and is now widely used as a complementary therapy to support relaxation, reduce stress, and promote overall wellbeing.

At its core, Reiki about allowing your system to return to a natural state of balance.

During a session, energy is gently channelled through the practitioner to you, supporting your body’s own healing processes in a calm, non-invasive way.

Reiki & Chakras

Reiki works closely with the body’s energy centres, often referred to as Chakras.

Chakras are points within the body where energy flows and is processed. There are seven main chakras, each connected to different emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of your life — such as safety, confidence, communication, intuition, and connection.

When these energy centres become blocked or imbalanced, it can lead to feelings such as:

  • Anxiety or emotional overwhelm
  • Lack of confidence or self-worth
  • Difficulty expressing yourself
  • Feeling disconnected from your intuition

Reiki gently works through these energy centres, helping to clear blockages and restore flow.

Why I Was Drawn to Reiki

My journey into Reiki didn’t come from a place of curiosity alone,  it came from a need to feel like myself again.

There was a time where I felt overwhelmed, disconnected, and unsure of my direction. Like many people, I was caught in my thoughts, carrying emotional weight, and searching for something that could bring me back to a place of calm.

Living more spiritually and using reiki became that space for me.

It allowed me to slow down, to breathe, and to reconnect with my own energy in a way I hadn’t experienced before. It wasn’t instant or dramatic, it was gentle, subtle, and real.

Over time, I began to feel clearer, calmer, and more connected to who I truly was beneath everything I had been holding onto.

That experience is what led me to create Galaxia Healing. I know my purpose is to heal.

Now, I offer Reiki in a space to support people, to help others reconnect with themselves in the same way I once needed.

What is Distance Reiki & How Does It Work?

Distance Reiki is a powerful form of energy healing that allows you to receive Reiki without being physically present.

Because Reiki works with energy — not physical touch — it is not limited by time or location. Energy can be directed and received wherever you are, allowing the same gentle healing process to take place remotely.

During a distance session, I connect with your energy intuitively and channel Reiki in the same way as an in-person session. You don’t need to do anything complicated simply be in a quiet, comfortable space where you can relax and receive.

Many people choose to lie down, close their eyes, and treat it as a moment of rest. Others simply go about their day and notice the effects afterwards.

The experience is often described as calming, grounding, and deeply relaxing just like an in-person session.

Distance Reiki offers flexibility while still providing a meaningful and powerful healing experience.

People are often drawn to it because:

  • They are unable to attend in person
  • They prefer to receive healing in their own space
  • They have busy schedules and need flexibility
  • They feel more comfortable relaxing at home
  • They are located outside of Hampshire or the UK
